Building the enterprise procurement team

On the role: My role as enterprise procurement team manager touches most parts of our company. I’m here to support sales and CS in the procurement expert space. My team helps our sales team, mostly with enterprise prospects, meeting with the prospect and helping the sales team land that prospect. On the CS side, for ongoing enterprise work, my team typically handles all of our enterprise customers’ requests. We’re also looking at things like process improvement and how to improve our enterprise motion.

On why LatamCent: We were trying to make sure our team’s budget went as far as it possibly could, but we also wanted to make sure we were getting really great talent. That’s why we reached out.

On working together: It’s the responsiveness and the ability to take our feedback and turn it around really quick. If we’re saying, “We want this type of person, we want these types of skills,” and for some reason we weren’t getting that initially, you turned it around quick and got some really great people. And the responsiveness on Slack. You’re in our Slack channel, and most of the time you guys are waiting on me. If I have anything to say or any answers I want, I get them right away.

Switching providers

On the alternative: We tried using someone else and we didn’t like it. They were not giving us the same quality of people. The best thing for me about working with LatamCent is that I know we’re going to get good people, and I don’t have any worry that it’s going to be a super long six-month process of trying to find someone.

The impact, and his advice

On the impact: A huge impact, especially on my team. Most of my team is based out of Colombia. I was really excited to start working, but I was also a little scared, because not many people have worked this type of role before. I was nervous about how long it would take to onboard them and realize value, but it was a lot quicker than we thought. The onboarding went very smoothly, and these are very smart and driven people. The impact, I can’t even measure it. We’ve built out a team that has consistently brought great service to our customers, and it’s been really great to watch everyone grow as individuals.

His advice: There’s a lot of great talent. You just have to know exactly what you want for the role and be as detailed as possible. Especially with folks like you, that’s going to get you the best candidate.

At a glance

  • Company: SpendHound (a product of YipitData)
  • Industry: SaaS spend management
  • Partner: LatamCent
  • Function placed: Enterprise procurement expert team, the customer-facing specialists who support enterprise sales and CS, based mostly in Colombia

  • Ramp: Onboarding faster than expected

The challenge: an enterprise procurement team for a brand-new role

Jason had two goals that usually pull against each other: stretch the budget and get great people.

His team sits across most of the company. They support the sales team on enterprise prospects, sitting in on deals the way a pre-sales solutions engineer would, and they handle enterprise customers’ requests on the CS side, much like an enterprise account manager, while improving the enterprise motion itself. It is a demanding, customer-facing role, and it is one that almost no one on the market has done before.

“We were trying to make sure our team’s budget went as far as it possibly could, but we also wanted to make sure we were getting really great talent. That’s why we reached out to you.”

Still, the real risk was not cost. It was time. A role this novel could take months to fill and months more to ramp, and Jason knew the work firsthand.

Why LatamCent, and why not the alternative

Before LatamCent, SpendHound had tried another provider. The quality gap made the decision easy.

“We tried using someone else and we didn’t like it. They just weren’t giving us the same quality of people. The best thing about working with LatamCent is that I know we’re going to get good people, and I don’t have any worry that it’s going to be a super long six-month process of trying to find someone.”

In other words, removing that six-month fear is the whole value for a manager staffing a hard role. Certainty of quality, without the drawn-out search. (For context, here is how long it actually takes to fill a SaaS role.)

What happened

First, when the brief needed adjusting, the turnaround was fast.

“It’s the responsiveness and the ability to take our feedback and turn it around really quick. If we said we want this type of person with these skills and we weren’t getting that initially, you turned it around quick and got some really great people.”

Meanwhile, the relationship ran in Slack, and the pace ran the other way from what most managers expect.

“The responsiveness on Slack. Most of the time you guys are waiting on me. If I have anything to say or any answers I want, I get them right away.”

Then came the part Jason had been nervous about. For a role few people had ever worked, the ramp came a lot quicker than the team expected, and onboarding went smoothly.

The results: an enterprise procurement team that ramped fast

In the end, the team he was scared to build became a team he cannot measure the value of.

“A huge impact, especially on my team. Most of my team is based out of Colombia. These are very smart and driven people. I can’t even measure the impact. We’ve built a team that has consistently brought great service to our customers, and it’s been really great to watch everyone grow as individuals.”

As a result, a customer-facing enterprise team that ramps fast and services accounts well is not a cost center. It is part of how SpendHound wins and keeps enterprise deals, and that motion keeps growing: SpendHound passed 1,000 customers in two years and added ZoomInfo as an enterprise customer in March 2026.

The enterprise procurement team, by the numbers

  • Team: Enterprise procurement expert team, based mostly in Colombia
  • Scope: Supports enterprise sales deals and enterprise CS, plus process improvement for the enterprise motion
  • Ramp: Onboarding faster than expected for a role few people had worked before
  • Provider switch: Moved off a prior provider that could not match candidate quality
  • Cost: Comparable US procurement comp runs roughly 2 to 3x the LATAM cost for the same experience level

Advice for hiring an enterprise procurement team

Jason’s only advice is about doing your own homework before you hire.

“There’s a lot of great talent. You just have to know exactly what you want for the role and be as detailed as possible. Especially with folks like you, that’s going to get you the best candidates.”

In short, for a novel role, the detail is the whole game. Define exactly what you need, hand it to a partner who can turn feedback around fast, and the talent is there. Weighing where to build? See whether nearshore beats offshore for AI and B2B SaaS teams.
